This can include manually stretching the fibre by pulling and shuffling strands to different lengths, followed by careful combing and trimming. While this is effective, it is more time-consuming than using pre-stretched hair.

Yes. Voodoo pre-stretched hair can be curled using a hot water method. Wrap a small section of hair around a wooden dowel or brush handle, then carefully dunk it into warm to hot water for a few seconds. Allow the hair to cool completely before unraveling the curl.

The tighter the hair is wrapped, the tighter the curl will be. Wider spacing will create looser, wave-style curls similar to Anna-wave textures. We recommend doing a small test first to find the ideal temperature and curl size for your project.

For a full head of box braids, we recommend 4–6 packs of VooDoo pre-stretched hair, depending on head size and desired braid thickness. To seal the ends, simply dunk them into hot water or secure them using braiding bands.

We recommend washing braids only when absolutely necessary, as washing can make braids heavy and place additional tension on the scalp, potentially loosening the install.

To refresh the roots between washes, use a good-quality dry shampoo. Braid installs are best changed every 6 weeks. You can also apply an Afro-Caribbean leave-in smoothing cream to keep braids soft and trim away flyaways if required.

For one pair of bubble braids with approximately five bubble sections and five braids per ponytail, we recommend 4–5 packs of Voodoo pre-stretched hair. You may have some hair left over depending on bubble size.

Because this range is tapered, the hair is thicker at the top and gradually slimmer towards the ends. This means lower bubbles will naturally appear smaller, contributing to a realistic shape. We also recommend using braiding bands to secure each section.

Voodoo pre-stretched hair is easy to backcomb and works extremely well for crochet synthetic dreads. Due to its very low heat resistance, sealing should be done by carefully dunking the finished dread into hot water.

Do not use steamers or hair straighteners on this fibre. Always wear heat-protective gloves when working with hot water. A crochet hook will be required for crochet dread techniques.
