FAQs
How many packs do I need to create a pair of bubble braids?▸
For one pair of bubble braids with five bubble sections and five braids per ponytail, we recommend using 5 packs of Phantasia braiding hair. We also recommend using braiding bands to secure the sections.
You can view our step-by-step tutorial on how to create bubble braids using the Phantasia range here:
I want to make synthetic dreads using this hair - what do I need to know?▸
The Phantasia range is easy to backcomb and has a high heat resistance. To seal smooth synthetic dreads, we recommend using steam.
For crochet dreads, this range works extremely well and can be sealed using steam or by carefully dunking the dread into hot water once crocheted. Always use heat-resistant gloves when handling steamers or hot water.
If you are new to synthetic dread making, we recommend starting with the CyberloxShop Infinitique range, which has a lower heat resistance and can be sealed more easily using hot water.
How many dreads can I make from one pack of hair?▸
From one pack of Phantasia jumbo braid, you can typically create:
6–8 double-ended dreads (standard Sharpie thickness), or
8–12 single-ended dreads
How many packs do I need for a full head of box braids?▸
For a full head of box braids, we recommend 6–8 packs, depending on head size and how thick you would like the braids to be.
You can view our box braid tutorial using the CyberloxShop Phantasia range here:
How do I section my hair for braids or synthetic dreadlock installs?▸
Correct sectioning is key to achieving neat, balanced braids or synthetic dreadlocks. Section size and pattern will depend on the style you’re creating, the thickness of the braids or dreads, and the overall look you want to achieve.
We recommend using a consistent sectioning pattern to ensure even tension and a professional finish. You can view our sectioning pattern guide here.
Our pattern guide shows three commonly used hair sectioning layouts for braids and synthetic dreads: Brick parting, Triangle parting, and Radial (Globe) parting. Each pattern offers a different finish and level of coverage, and choosing the right layout helps achieve even tension, clean rows, and a professional-looking install.
How many packs do I need to create a cosplay or DIY ponytail?▸
For an adult-sized ponytail, we recommend 1–2 packs. For children, one pack is usually sufficient per ponytail.
Phantasia jumbo braid does not include a hair elastic, so for comfort and security we recommend mounting the hair onto a standard hair bobble. Mixing colours can create a unique custom blend.
Can I use this hair for cosplay wig making?▸
Yes, absolutely. Phantasia jumbo braiding hair is ideal for full cosplay wig making as well as regular synthetic wig construction. Its smooth texture makes the fibre very manageable, helping to speed up preparation and styling time.
The hair can be sewn or glued onto wig caps and is also suitable for weft making. It can be used to add extra length, volume, or colour accents to existing wigs.
Can Phantasia hair be used for doll rerooting?▸
Yes. Phantasia jumbo braid hair is suitable for doll rerooting and doll customisation projects. The range offers an extensive colour palette, including natural shades, pastels, brights, neons, and fantasy colours, making it ideal for matching existing dolls or creating completely custom looks.
The fibre is heat-stylable, allowing you to straighten, curl, or shape the hair once installed, which gives excellent flexibility for doll styling. Each pack weighs approximately 80g, which is typically more than enough to reroot one doll, with spare fibre remaining for future projects or colour blending.
Can I create colour blends with this shade?▸
You can. The Phantasia range is ideal for colour blending thanks to its smooth, straight-textured fibre, which allows multiple shades to blend evenly without snagging or separation.
This makes it easy to create lighter or darker custom shades, add highlights, or design completely unique blends using multiple colours.
